Job Sikhala and NDWG Leaders Released After Detention

Job Sikhala, a leader of the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG), was detained along with 39 other leaders during a meeting at the Beat of the Forest Resort in Penhalonga on February 8, 2025. Fortunately, they've all been released.

According to Sikhala, the meeting aimed to review the group's progress every three months. However, things took a dramatic turn when members of the Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) and police arrived, leading to some attendees being assaulted. Sikhala reported that an officer even threatened Dr. Wurayayi Zembe with a gun.

The group was taken to the Penhalonga Police Station, where they were forced to sit on the dirty floor while their information was recorded. Although they weren't formally charged, their cases have been moved to Mutare Central CID Law and Order for further handling. The situation is still unfolding as the NDWG leaders await more information about their case.

It's worth noting that Sikhala emphasized that the NDWG is a social justice movement, not a political party, which complicates the accusations against them.
